Work progresses to ensure intermodal connectivity of the New Container Terminal of the Port of Cadiz

The Port Authority will shortly tender the paving of 45,000 meters of the new esplanade, is developing the geophysical campaign necessary for the drafting of the project to deepen the navigation channel and has asked the City Council to give the go-ahead to the ADIF project for the railway connection through the Avenida Industrial.

The Bay of Cadiz Port Authority (APBC) maintains several lines of work in parallel to ensure intermodal connectivity and the competitiveness of the New Container Terminal.

According to the president of the APBC, Teófila Martínez Saiz, in the course of the last board of directors, the project for the paving of 45,000 square meters of esplanade, as well as for the urbanization of the accesses and basic services to the New Terminal, is already in Puertos del Estado pending the mandatory technical supervision, after which it will be sent to the Secretary of State for Infrastructures, Transport and Housing of the Ministry of Development for approval. The administrative specifications to be able to tender the work are also being drafted, so it is expected to be able to tender this project at the end of July and thus comply with the schedule to start up the new terminal at the end of 2020.

Likewise, the execution of the Border Inspection Post of the New Terminal also has the favorable report of Puertos del Estado to continue the works next week and to be able to finish in term.

With regard to land connectivity, the work of repairing the tunnel waterway will begin imminently in order to be able to undertake in the near future the second phase of the access project to the New Container Terminal, consisting of definitively concluding the access tunnel.
