The Port Authority will initiate the procedures to include Cadiz in the Basic Network of the TEN-T Network

The objective of the port organism is that in the revision foreseen for 2020, Europe considers the Port of Cadiz in the Basic Network, together with other strategic infrastructures.
The Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz (APBC) has initiated the procedures for the Port of Cadiz to be included as part of the Basic Network in the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) defined by the European Union.

The TEN-T network comprises the linear and nodal transport infrastructures of the road, rail, air, maritime and inland navigation modes, as well as those of a multimodal nature and is structured on two levels:

    1. The COMPREHENSIVE Network, made up of all the elements considered to be of common interest, where the Port of Cadiz is already located.
    2. The Basic Network (CORE Network), made up of those elements of the global network that have the same strategic importance for achieving the objectives of the Union’s transport policy and are the preferred object of actions with Community aid, to which the Port of the Bay of Cadiz aspires to have access.

According to the explanation given by the president of the APBC, Teófila Martínez, in October 2020 there is a planned revision of this network and the Port is working to be included in it, since, de facto, it is, since it has a railway connection both with the Central Corridor and with the Mediterranean Corridor through Seville.
